How to use Chablon

A quick walkthrough of the workflow, from a blank canvas to an exported image. New to Chablon? Start with what Chablon is first.

1. Create a project

From your dashboard, create a new project. A project holds one or more templates along with the people you invite to collaborate on it.

2. Design your template

Open the editor and build your layout on the canvas. Add text, shapes, and images, group elements together, and position and style everything exactly how you want it to look.

3. Mark editable fields

Select any element and turn it into a field — a piece of text, an image, or a color that can be changed later without editing the template itself. Everything you don't turn into a field stays fixed as part of the design.

4. Set up formats

Add one or more formats (output sizes) for your template — for example a square post and a story size — each with its own margins and background. Choose whether formats share the same fields or are linked/unlinked so each can diverge independently.

5. Add fonts and media

Pick brand fonts from Google Fonts or upload your own, and add images to your project's media library so they're ready to use across your templates. See our font licensing disclaimer before uploading custom fonts.

6. Invite collaborators

Invite teammates to your project and assign roles — for example, let some people design templates while others only fill in fields and export.

7. Fill in and export

Switch to preview/use mode, fill in the editable fields with your content, choose a format, and export a pixel-perfect image straight from the browser.
